DIY Mango body butter

I have been using coconut oil as a face moisturizer for a couple of years and love it. I decided to whip up some mango body butter and mango face moisturizer for something different for a change. When you dump commercial, chemical laden personal hygiene products and opt for eu natural beauty products you can get super bored!! Adding different essential oil can change things up quite a bit.

Just a few simple ingredients! Mango butter, coconut oil,
and lavender essential oil will get you started!
Mango butter by Better Shea Butter.
 1/4 C. Mango butter + 1 Tbsp. coconut
oil in a microwave safe bowl.
Melted in the microwave and ready to chill
 in the fridge.
A few drops of vitamin E oil is all you need
to help preserve the body butter.
All finished and ready to go to work!

1/4 C. mango butter
1 Tbsp. coconut oil
8 drops of vitamin E oil
10 drops of lavender essential oil

Add mango butter and coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl. Gasp! We're using the microwave!
Heat at 50% power for 15 seconds then stir. Heat for another 15 seconds at 50% power and stir again. Almost there! Heat for another 15 seconds at 50% power and stir. You should now have liquid.
Add 10 drops of vitamin E oil and 10 drops of lavender essential oil and stir well. Chill for about 5-10 minutes then use a wire whisk to beat the mixture until it is nice and smooth, and somewhat fluffy. Transfer it to a clean, glass container.

Note: For a thinner version of this butter that is perfect for a face moisturizer follow the directions above but do a 50/50 ratio of mango butter and coconut oil.

Why Mango Butter?
Mango butter is rich in fatty acids which our skin uses for moisture. It repairs damage and is a good source of vitamin A which helps in cell production. It soothes sunburn, insect bites, itchy skin and is great for sensitive skin.  It comes from the seeds of the mango fruit and is much less greasy than Shea and cocoa butter.

Why Coconut Oil?
Coconut oil moisturizes skin, smells amazing, and has become readily available at most grocery stores. It works on acne, eczema and is a great makeup remover.

Why Lavender Essential Oil?
Lavender is fantastic for burns, bug bites, acne, and even ear aches. Good for sensitive skin and is a natural antibiotic. It can be used "neat" on the skin but doing a small test patch is always a good idea.

Why Vitamin E?
Vitamin E oil contains natural antioxidants and helps with wrinkles, age spots, rough skin dry lips, stretch marks and scars. And, It helps prolong the shelf life of coconut and mango body butter.

Used individually these are all such fantastic ingredients to have on hand, but used together they are amazing!!

Note: When using the ratios for the face moisturizer the consistency will be like butter that has sat at room temperature. When using the ratios for the body butter the consistency will be more like butter that has just been removed from the fridge. Let it melt in your hands for a few seconds before using it so it absorbs into the skin smoothly.
