Danish coronets-Book Sneak Peak!

Now that Halloween has come and gone it is time to focus on Christmas! Yay!! I love the Christmas season. Time spent with family and friends is priceless. I love the snow, the music, the movies, and the food. Growing up in a family with a Danish father was always so much fun at Christmas. Dad would decorate the house from top to bottom. The best part was the packages that would arrive from Denmark. They were filled with everything from hand crafted gifts to treats. I have such fond memories of my family sitting around the boxes in the living room after dad came home from work, eagerly waiting for him to get them opened so we could see what treasures awaited us. We had only met grandma once but her and her sisters always sent us such lovely gifts. We didn't know the loving hands that had packaged the boxes with such care, but we knew we had a Danish family and that we were loved. Handmade Danish coronets were some of the fabulous gifts that came to us one year. Dad gave me some of them for my Christmas tree when I started my own family. When I decided to do my craft book they are the first thing I decided I wanted to feature in the book. I can't think of a better way to honor and remember my grandmother and her sweet sisters. Traditionally the cones are filled with nuts and candies and hung from the Christmas tree. They are so fun and easy to make!

I would love to do this and incorporate it in our Christmas traditions. We have the pickle, which we hide in the tree, and whomever finds it, always Lily, gets a special prize. The prize is something for the family, usually a game.
